The primary purpose is to serve as the political voice for the black student population, increase student involvement in social, academic, and political activities, promote unity among African American student organizations, and to facilitate communication between the black student population and the Purdue University administration.

Join us in welcoming BSU’s very own Freshman Action Team, FACT! Within FACT, members collaborate on projects that enhance the campus experience for their fellow freshmen. BSU designed FACT to give first-year students hands on experience in student leadership and organization management. They also serve as a source and outreach tool for other freshmen to enhance first year students experiences coming to college. Freshman candidates run for positions mirroring roles on the executive board. This provides them with opportunities to shadow upperclassmen and gain practical insight into running a student organization. These individuals are the masterminds behind the BSU Lock-In earlier this semester and have been a big part in helping our organization promote events and amplify the impact we hope to have in the black community here at Purdue. We are so lucky and honored to have a team like FACT!

Yesterday, October 29th, we came together for an incredible Dance-a-Thon in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness! This event, hosted by several Black student-led organizations at Purdue, brought together students of all backgrounds to explore and celebrate different cultural dance styles—all while raising funds for a meaningful cause. A huge thank you to our co-hosts, partners, and everyone who attended. It’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month! With the collaboration of 20 of your Black Student Organizations and Future Black Leaders Inc., we are hosting a fundraising Dance-a-thon for breast cancer patients and research. We invite all Purdue communities to show your support by participating or wearing pink on the Pink-Out Day (October 30th)!
